THE City of Johannesburg is delighted to celebrate the achievement of a critical milestone in the Rea Vaya BRT public transport system.
The feeder services will transport passengers from Protea Glen via Thokoza Park into the CBD and another feeder service will travel from Eldorado Park via Lakeview station into the CBD. A distribution service will travel from Chancellor House and Library Gardens via Braamfontein, Wits, Hillbrow and the Art Gallery near Joubert Park.
“This new roll-out represents 95% completion of Phase 1A of the Rea Vaya BRT system and we are delighted for achieving this milestone in time for our FIFA 2010 World Cup preparations,” says Councillor Rehana Moosajee, the member of the mayoral committee for transportation in the City of Johannesburg.
She continues that this achievement signals that the City of Johannesburg is ready and prepared for a successful World Cup.
“A viable public transport system such as the one represented by the Rea Vaya BRT is a critical component for our country’s economic development.”
The MMC, Clr Rehana Moosajee, will be among the guests at the launch. The aim of the launch is to inform people about the services that Rea Vaya BRT public transport has to offer through the use of radio and informational handouts which will be available at the launch. |
